George Soros Claims Facebook Is Trying to Re-Elect President Trump

Far-left billionaire George Soros had harsh words for the social media giant Facebook, accusing the social networking platform of actively working to ensure President Donald Trump is re-elected in 2020, as reported by Fox News.

He made the comments at an event with the Open Society Foundation, a far-left organization, in Davos, Switzerland on Thursday. In his speech, the 89-year-old said that “Facebook will work to re-elect Trump and Trump will protect Facebook,” adding that this made him “very concerned about the outcome of 2020.”

Soros also used his speech to criticize many right-wing world leaders, including President Trump, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Soros’s criticisms are the latest from a major left-wing figure over Facebook’s refusal to ban political ads in the lead-up to the 2020 presidential election, after numerous other Big Tech companies such as Twitter have already done so. Facebook spokesman Rob Leathern responded to Soros’s criticisms by calling them “just plain wrong.” He added that “ultimately, we don’t think decisions about political ads should be made by private companies.”
